TPPC's Rarity List

Let's talk history

This tool's data is pulled from TPPC's rarity page. We can only record data known to us and since this tool was created on August 12, 2020, the only data we can consistently display at a daily rate is also since August 12, 2020.

However, using handy tools such as the Wayback Machine, older data can be found. This is by far not daily data (only 200 points in time or such over the past 15 years) but it gives a rough indication of how rarity changed over the years. Everything from the Wayback Machine was imported, as well as the data from Piggachew's TRTools!

Interesting stuff!

When viewing the history of Pokémon, you'll notice some bits and pieces! For example, somewhere in early 2007 you'll find that a lot of Pokémon vanished. When tracing things back, this seems to be related to the time when inactive accounts got deactivated.

You'll also notice that early 2009, everything suddenly got genders. This is the moment when TPPC's Rarity List started displaying genders.

Other than that, really big bans reflect in the data, and you can see large portions of rare Pokémon suddenly disappear after a big ban happened.

What's with the date range?

Sometimes you will see ranges like below, as seen when checking out ShinyLugia.

Date Male Female Genderless Ungendered Total
August 3, 2020 0 0 4 29 (-1) 33 (-1)
May 25, 2020
until June 11, 2020
0 0 4 30 (-1) 34 (-1)

It seems off, since logically there would've been 34 of these until August 3, 2020. However, since we have no data between June 11, 2020 and August 3, 2020, we cannot be sure when the number changed from 34 to 33. It must have happened somewhere between June 11 and August 3.
